Save KidsCare!

KidsCare is an Arizona success story that provides health insurance coverage to 47,000 children. Since it was created in 1998, the rate of Arizona kids with health insurance grew from 74% to 84%, which translates into 160,000 more children over time who had/have health insurance. But budget cuts passed by the Legislature in March 2010 will result in thousands of kids denied the coverage they need to stay healthy, active and ready to learn.
You can help by sending a message to Governor Brewer and Arizona legislators that children's health care is a priority worth protecting in our state budget and that there are other options instead of cutting KidsCare, such as hiring back workers at the Arizona Department of Revenue that were laid off and brought in $125 million a year in revenue to the state. Sign your name to the CAA petition that we will present to the Governor and legislators this legislative session.

CAA has already started to speak out against freezing KidsCare enrollment in recent public testimonyto AHCCCS.
KidsCare is expected to be terminated on June 30, 2010, leaving 47,000 children without health insurance. Without this coverage
  • kids won't get timely medical care, leading to more serious and costly health problems.
  • emergency rooms will fill up because families don't know where else to go.
  • more families will be forced into medical debt and bankruptcy, adding to Arizona's declining real estate market.
